Our Prospectus
The Admissions Journey
Step 1 – Attend our information evening in October and download our prospectus.
Step 2 – Discover more about the courses available and your own preferences.
Step 3 – Complete the online Application Form. This is an online system and you can complete the form at your leisure, returning to it as and when you are able to. As well as some basic personal details, there are some questions for you to consider and an area where you can indicate to us what your initial thoughts are about the courses that you would like to study with us.
Step 4 – Submit your application by 31st January 2027. Applications received after this date will only be considered if spaces remain. 
Step 5 - We will call you for a progression conversation between November and March. You will receive an email inviting you for an appointment, at which we will discuss your application and your choice of subjects.
Step 6 – You will receive an email confirming whether or not you have been offered a place - click on the link to confirm your interest.
Entry Requirements
The entry requirement for courses starting in September 2026 will be a 4 in either English Literature or English Language and a 4 in Maths, plus any additional subject specific entry requirements.
Every student who applies to the Sixth Form will need to meet with a senior member of staff from Twynham School to discuss their plans and potential subject mix. An progression conversation will be given to all applicants and, following this discussion, a programme of study can be agreed and an offer made stating the entry requirements.
Students applying from overseas should contact the Sixth Form Office directly to discuss entry requirements.
We are likely to be oversubscribed and it is therefore essential that you work hard to make sure that you meet the entry requirement stated on the offer. As well as meeting the academic requirements, we are looking for students who show ambition, are likely to embrace the special culture of our Sixth Form and have the inclination to give as well as receive.

FAQ's
With the reforms of A Levels, with linear courses being phased in and modular courses being phased out, students will be advised to take 3 A Level courses from Year 12. A small minority of students take 4 courses, usually if studying Maths and Further Maths.
What will my timetable be like?
Students have 9 lessons per fortnight of their chosen subjects, plus Silent Study periods and PSHE. Tutor time is 08:40 every morning for all students.
Lessons are 1 hour long and there are 5 of them per day. During the day you may have some 'free' periods which can be spent in the Common Room, the Library, or the allocated Sixth Form Computer Rooms. Some subjects have 'Period 6 lessons' which are from 15:15 to 16:15.
There are occasional whole year group assemblies in person or online.
Can I park on site?
Parking on site is unavailable. If you intend to drive to school, please be considerate of where you park and bear the local residents in mind when choosing a parking spot for your car. Public transport is recommended as local parking is limited.
Will my parents be informed of my progress?
Yes. Although we expect you to take more responsibility for yourself and for your learning once you are at Twynham, your parents will be able to view your attendance and progress reports online. If we believe that there might be a problem with your progress or your attendance then your parents will be contacted and your tutor will work with you to help you to get back on track.
Can I choose my tutor group?
No. All tutor groups and class lists are put together randomly which means that all students are in the same situation. We pride ourselves in bridging the gap between school and, for the majority of our students, university. Therefore meeting new people in a new environment is an important part of the process. We do have communal morning and lunch breaks when you can meet with your friends.
